Jacksonville Beach Event Photographer Ruth Shepherd | Relay for Life

April 17th and 19th was 2010′s Beaches Relay for Life in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. I was honored once again to be their event photographer, documenting the celebration of the survival of men and women who have been afflicted with breast cancer. Proceeds of the event went to support the American Cancer Society, but they haven’t quite reached their goal this year. To help them out, I’m going to be donating 50% of all proceeds of print sales from the event back to the Relay goal, as well as from my Nature portfolio. Making Strides

This past weekend, I was asked to be apart of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event in Jacksonville, FL, and I’m proud to say the photos are now up. What an amazing event this was! There’s nothing more moving than to see a wave of people heading out onto the beach in the heat of the Florida sun to walk in memory of a loved one or in celebration of their own survival.Big props to fellow Jacksonville photographer Jennifer Kinzig for helping me to shoot the event, some of the photos in the gallery are hers as well. Make sure you check out her site!

Just when you think you’re about to pull your hair out trying to learn php and css, it all starts to click. I’ve spent the last week in trial and error, and finally have the site up in working condition (my favorite part is the twitter feed right below the main banner…spiffy, huh?).

No, really. I am SOOOO excited. I can get out and do more shooting when I’m not sitting at the computer, mulling over lines of code.
